There are different kinds and different makes of air purifiers. How do we determine the type that fits our lifestyle? Consumer reports are a good source of comparing performance of different brands and models of air purifiers. There are also websites that will provide comparisons. Some of these websites focus specifically on health concerns like asthma and other allergies.
Some publications provide comparisons and air purifier ratings as well as general information. Most but not all do actual tests on products. A rating chart is included and each air purifier gets a separate rating for effectiveness on criteria like high and low speed, noise and electrostatic precipitation. They also present evaluations on the quality of construction and gas odor removal. Ozone issues have become important areas for comparison.
