An aromatherapy massage is beneficial in stimulating the immune system. It is a way of strengthening resistance to diseases while helping to prevent infections. It is pleasurable experience that is also a healthy one.

Essential oils are a big component in aromatherapy massage. Different kinds of essential oils provide relief for various kinds of ailments. Aromatherapy carrier oils are used to dilute essential oils before they are applied on the skin. Smell that Oil

One of the best things I like to do to relax is to spend some time in the tub. Helping me to relax some more is the use of fragrance oils. Fragrance oils are blended synthetic aroma compounds or natural essential oils diluted with a carrier like vegetable oil, mineral oil or propylene glycol. These oils are used in perfumes, cosmetics, aromatherapy and would you believe, even in the flavoring of food.

A lot of people prefer naturally derived oils from plants rather than the synthetic oils. Some fragrance oils that are natural come from the plants like ylang ylang, sandalwood and even cedar. As you can see, there are plenty of uses for fragrance oils. The most basic is the use of these oils as aromatherapy oils that you burn for relaxation just like what I do when I am relaxing in my tub.

Last week I attended a small party amongst friends. It was a pre race party for a marathon. It was hosted by a female training partner of mine. Her house was one of the most beautiful houses I’ve seen. Not only did it look good, it smelled great also. The potpourri she used was great. It didn’t overpower the room. She said she made her own potpourri. She just bought her own supplies. She told me how to do it and I then proceeded to buy my own potpourri supplies.

Potpourri supplies are affordable especially when you get them in bulk. Potpourri is a great gift. Everybody will appreciate it. Also, potpourri has no shelf life. They are also easy to make. No need to take a special class to learn how to make it. Just follow your nose and you’re all set.

Get the benefits of aromatherapy by making your own nice-smelling air fresheners. Stop using air fresheners that come in a can. Go for natural and environmentally friendly home-made fragrances that can even help you save money. Hang up bunches of nice-smelling flowers and herbs on a peg in your bathroom. Or try your hand at making aromatic potpourri.

Stir in 5 tablespoons of lavender flowers, 3 tablespoons each of carnations and scented rose petals, 1 ½ tablespoons each of chamomile flowers, heliotrope flowers, salt and oris root powder. Sprinkle everything with a few drops of rose oil then place in a tightly covered glass jar. Shake this daily and age for a month. After the aging time, place your potpourri in a decorative bowl and inhale the wonderful fragrances.

flower essence

One technique of meditation is to use scents to add a unique experience to the activity. Take a drop of flower essence and sit comfortably in a quiet place. Become aware of your breathing by feeling how air flows into your nose, throat, and lungs. Then, slowly exhale while still being aware of the air leaving your lungs, your throat and your nose.

As you continue to relax, be aware of your thoughts just like watching bubbles. Let your mind be a passive observer as the essences stimulate your deepest feelings. Avoid making any judgments of the bubbles you see but ask your soul to retain the learning. When you are ready, open your eyes and feel that sense of peace overcome you after that restful interlude.

potpourri

November 17th, 2009

We live in a stressful world. We should create a place of sanctuary where we can unwind and relax. Ideally this should be our homes or at least a room in your house. If you want to make a sanctuary of a room, you must take away all clutter. You can also add potpourri.

Potpourri is great. The fresh smells can make you relax and unwind. Just make sure you change it when the smell runs out. Once you create your sanctuary it can be easily transported to another location. Just bring along the potpourri to wherever you want to relax. Your mind will get conditioned that potpourri, sanctuary and relaxation is interconnected. When you smell that particular potpourri, you mind will automatically make your body relax whether you are in your sanctuary or at the busy office.

essential spa tools

November 17th, 2009

Let a perfect spa experience await you at home any time of the day or night. Store essential spa tools in a small drawer, a shelf on your cupboard or keep them in a small basket behind your bathroom’s glass mirror. Since a lot of spa treatments involve cleansing and moisturizing your skin, you will need shower gels and body lotions that are scented with both invigorating and relaxing aromas.

To have the ideal environment when you do your home spa treatment, make sure the place is tidy. To further create the atmosphere, prepare a few aromatherapy diffusers and candles. Lie down on soft flannel sheets washed in lavender water so it will feel like you really are inside a luxury spa.
