My father in law has type 2 diabetes but he never lets his condition hinder his enjoyment of life. Every day he incorporates bitter melon in the dishes he eats. He calls the vegetable his natural diabetes cure. According to him, bitter melon helps regulate blood sugar levels and keeps the body functions operating normally. It has already been proven by scientists to contain insulin.

Bitter melon is also rich in iron and has twice the beta carotene of broccoli, two times the calcium of spinach and twice the potassium of bananas. It moreover boasts of Vitamin C and B 1 to 3, phosphorus and good dietary fiber. Bitter melon has also been shown to help increase the production of beta cells by the pancreas and thereby improves the body’s ability to create and release insulin.

Neoprene is a kind of substance that is rubbery in nature. It is often used in waterproof gear and other protective coverings. This material is also used when making Neoprene knee braces which are valuable tools for preventing injury or providing support to joints. Since knees can be easily injured, it pays for athletes and trainers to have neoprene knee braces handy.

There are several benefits to using these braces:

  • Neoprene knee braces can provide support and warmth to an already sprained or strained joint
  • They hold a joint in place as they serve as a tight sleeve that wraps around the knee
  • Neoprene is flexible and supportive but will not feel constricting
  • They are very affordable and are easy to replace

Like Giant Chopsticks

Asians are known for their culture, their customs and their cuisine. I once met a young family from South Africa while I was touring Florida who asked me if I ate using chopsticks since I was Asian. I said we do not and never do so unless we eat in Chinese, Japanese or Korean restaurant. For some Asian cultures however, chopsticks are as essential to eating as wooden walking canes are to old people. Chopsticks help them eat while walking canes help them walk.

People who use wooden walking canes today have more choices than people who used them generations ago. Today’s wooden walking canes come in several designs; some are thicker some are curved and others even with carvings on them. Wooden walking sticks are usually made from hard, sturdy wood. They are meant to support a certain amount of weight. The bottoms of these walking sticks usually have rubber in them so that they do not slip.

People don’t like to talk about it. People are embarrassed just thinking about it. The colon is very important to us. Neglect it and it will come back to bite your ass. The benefits of colon cleansing are weight loss, increase energy and great skin. That’s what every adult aspire for.

If everybody knows the benefits of colon cleansing we’ll do it all the time. Ideally it should be cleansed about four times a year. This will vary depending how healthy your lifestyle is. An unhealthy person will need more and a healthy one less. What I’m harping at here is that everyone, I mean everyone (healthy and unhealthy) should get your colon cleansed.

The Dangers of Too Much Cholesterol

The type and amount of cholesterol we have can have significant effects on our bodies. So it is a good idea to understand what healthy cholesterol is and how it affects our health. Such understanding will help us live a healthier life and reduce our personal risks for heart attacks and strokes.

Extra cholesterol in the blood is stored in the arteries and will cause them to narrow. If large deposits of cholesterol build up, blood flow can be severely compromised. If this happens inside an artery that supplies blood to the heart, you can suffer a heart attack. If this occurs inside an artery that supplies blood to the brain, you may suffer a stroke instead.

Brushing Teeth and Your Health

June 28th, 2010
Comments Off

When you were a kid, your parents, teachers and dentist constantly reminded you to brush your teeth after every meal. They used to drag you to the bathroom just so you could clean your choppers. Now that you are grown, they are proven to be right. If it weren’t for their instruction, you would have lost some or most of your teeth today. You could be wearing dentures today if it weren’t for them.

There is one more thing that will make you happy they made you brush your teeth until you’re used to doing it. There’s a recent study linking heart disease to people who do not regularly brush their teeth. Quite a scary thought since who would think that problems with the teeth could lead to something very serious. The study says that bacteria in unclean teeth and gums can travel to the blood stream to reach and affect the heart. So to prevent this, continue brushing your teeth regularly.
