decaf teas

August 11th, 2009

So much has been written about the process of decaffeinating teas. However as a tea drinker, I don’t care much if I’m served with decaf teas or not. The pleasure in drinking tea does not heavily rely on the flavor. But rather on the exact moment you craved for it and enjoyed it. If you want to quicken your digestion drinking tea is one of the options. If you feel a little drowsy while doing your assignment then take a cup of tea to keep awake.

Decaffeinated teas came into popularity when some tea drinkers prefer to lower their caffeine intake due to health reasons. To serve the growing number of decaf tea drinkers, tea manufacturers complied to serve the increasing demand for decaf teas. There are two processes that are now employed to process and produce decaf teas. One of which is the ethyl acetate method that is cheaper and easier. The other one is the CO2 method that has proven to be much safer.

black teas

August 6th, 2009

Green teas have gained their popularity due to their health benefits. However, recent studies show that black teas popularly known for its distinct flavor also provide benefits originally attributed solely to green tea. Research indicates that two of the compounds found in black tea, namely, theaflavins and thearubigens, do not just contribute to the color and taste of the tea itself, but rather has the same effect drinkers get from drinking green tea.

Additionally, a 2001 study made by Boston University indicates that long term consumption of black tea decreases the dysfunction of blood vessels in coronary artery disease. However, since the said tea research is still in its early stage, trying to switch from being a green tea drinker does not make any difference at all. After all, regardless of whether it’s a black or a green, the long-term benefit has proven to be valuable.
