Going Tap

November 21st, 2011

When we source our water from privately, we are not particularly sure whether the water source may have contaminants which have compromised the quality of water we use in the home. Oftentimes we directly drink tap water as it is conveniently available. We fail to realize that drinking water can actually cause more harm than good. Instead of meeting the recommended amounts of water to be consumed every day, the more we consume poor quality water the more toxins and bacteria we get to induce.

Making use of a water filter case allows homeowners to properly remove any sediments and impurities in our water source. This way, families can be assured that each time they open their faucets they only get the cleanest and freshest water for their consumption. This is a basic need of a human being. Without water we would be suffering from complications of dehydration. But one should never compromise too the importance of drinking only safe water for our health.

A refrigerator purifier can be one of two types of purifiers designed for use in the refrigerator. It can either be installed directly into the refrigerator or simply set inside it. One type of refrigerator purifier is designed for the air inside the refrigerator, while the other is for the water that runs through it, either for an automatic icemaker, or an in-the-door ice and water dispenser. The GE MXRC Refrigerator Water Filter will fit GE, Hotpoint, and Kenmore refrigerators with a round metal canister filter typically mounted inside the refrigerator above the top shelf.

This water filter is designed for a refrigerator water purifier that is similar to water purifiers installed on faucets. The water that passes through the waterline to supply either the icemaker or the water dispenser, or both, passes through this filter installed directly in the dispensing unit. This filter is designed to filter out chemicals and metals that may be present in the water source, whether it be county, city, or well water. You can easily purchase and install refrigerator purifiers and filters into most existing dispensers.

Getting fit and choosing to have a healthier lifestyle, I have engaged myself in various physical activities to get me that much needed exercise. My fitness regimen would consist of early runs in the morning, and either trips to the gym or the yoga studio to keep the calories burned in the evenings. I have felt a great change in my life, and I no longer feel bloated and heavy like I used to.

During these fitness routines I would always have my collapsible water bottle carrier with me to keep me from being dehydrated. Hydrating myself will allow me to get back the fluids I have lost from those rigorous exercises. Water is important for any individual, any chances of survival is slim without this fluid. And having my handy bottle around me anywhere I go helps me get that energy to keep on going.

Whole house water filter systems can be an expensive proposition. After all, there is no need for filtered water to flush your toilets. Unless you are sick or are suffering from some skin ailment, you also probably will not need to bathe in filtered water. A clean house is possible just using regular tap water. A countertop water filter will be a practical solution for a home that needs filtered water for drinking and cooking.

While the government takes care of treating water before they are piped into our homes, we can never really be sure how clean they are.

The main concerns in our tap water are:

We cannot leave the health of our family member hanging by a thin thread. We make sure they are safe by investing in an effective countertop water filter.

  • Giardia and other Chlorine resistant parasites
  • Heavy metals due to the age-old pipes
  • Insecticides & Pesticides
  • Chlorine

How Reverse Osmosis Filters Work?

May 17th, 2010

Osmosis, if you look it up in the dictionary, means the movement of a substance in a semi-permeable membrane into a solution of a higher concentration to equalize the concentration inside and outside the membrane. In reverse osmosis, the membrane is used as a filter to remove large molecules and ions from the solution. Reverse osmosis systems are used to make drinkable water from salty or contaminate water. It usually takes a lot of pressure and it’s a slow process, but it works.

Reverse osmosis is done by applying pressure to a solution on one side of a selective membrane. When pressure is applied, the uncontaminated water or the solvent slowly seeps out of the membrane. The contaminants, or the solute, are retained inside the selective membrane. This process is applied to filtering water for drinking.
