Slowly But Surely

A high efficiency particulate air or HEPA filter is a type of air filter that satisfies certain standards of efficiency such as those set by the United States Department of Energy. HEPA filters are composed of a mat of randomly arranged fibres typically composed of fiberglass and possess diameters between 0.5 and 2.0 micrometer. HEPA filters are designed to target much smaller pollutants and particles which it traps (they stick to a fibre) through a combination of the following three mechanisms:

A HEPA air purifier may take longer to purify the air in a room in comparison to other regular purifiers. But it creates less noise and deals with particles that regular air purifiers are unable to do. Sometimes, doing it slowly but surely is much better than faster but lacking.

  • Interception – particles following a line of flow in the air stream come within one radius of a fibre and adhere to it.
  • Impaction – larger particles are unable to avoid fibres by following the curving contours of the air stream and are forced to embed in one of them directly.
  • Diffusion – similar to Brownian motion, an enhancing mechanism is a result of the collision with gas molecules by the smallest particles, especially those below 0.1 µm in diameter, which are thereby impeded and delayed in their path through the filter.

So much has been written about stem cell technology. As laymen, we are interested in stem cell research facts.

These research facts have given so much hope in the medical field. Stem cell research is, in fact, believed to be the most exciting research in progress. It holds the promise of treatment for various diseases that affect millions of people. This includes diabetes, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer, cancer, HIV/AIDS and a lot more.

  • Stem cells are found in most multi cellular organisms.
  • They have the ability to regenerate.
  • They can transform into specialized types of cells. This means that they can develop into other tissues.
  • These qualities allow them to cure certain diseases

Everybody needs to exercise. Muscles need to be used regularly to stay fit and strong. This is true for children, adults and the elderly. Aside from keeping muscles fit, exercise is also good for the heart. As a person exercises, the heart rate increases and this is a way of exercising the heart.

The nature and intensity of the exercise should vary depending on a person’s age, physical condition and inclination. Young adults will require more strenuous exercise procedures while exercise for the elderly will be confined to light activities. Walking is considered sufficient exercise for the elderly. After all, 200 different muscles are being used when walking. Yoga is also considered a complete exercise for the mind and body.

Invest in Life-Saving Methods.

An insurance salesman once approached me and asked if I already have insurance and I nodded. Truthfully, I really did not have one at that time because I was still figuring out whether it would be the best step to take. Obviously, it would be very good to have an insurance policy just in case something happens to me then at least my family would receive something to help them get on with their lives. But, I am more interested in investing in equipment or training that can help me save a life.

This is why I decided to get a FirstVoice EID. For me, the greatest challenge in helping someone in need is to take out the panic and stress that can prevent me from acting fast and sure. This is why when I came across the FirstVoice EID, I immediately took action and purchased it. The EID or Emergency Instruction Device has a voice coach to calm responders first on the scene. It keeps responders focused on accepted protocols and treatment occurs in the correct order. It is very detailed and tells the person which color-coordinated button to turn on or which is the next step to do. I had a family meeting when I came home with it and taught them how to use it. We all took up first-aid, basic life support and CPR classes to ensure each other’s safety. Now, with an EID and insurance, I am less worried and extremely relieved.

Repairing Muscle Tissue

Protein is the body’s building block for muscles as well as for their repair and growth after exercise. Whenever a person exercises, especially during resistance training, there could be microscopic damage to the myofibrils of muscle fiber. The body responds to the damage by transporting nutrients, including protein and other growth factors, to the muscle to help it grow.

As per researchers, protein supplements taken in before exercise and within 30 minutes of finishing your workout will help with growth and recovery. As a guide, protein consumption after exercise should be 1 gram for every 3 to 4 grams of carbohydrate. Discuss with your doctor if you plan on taking extra protein for good measure.
