Types of Shower Seats

May 18th, 2010

Maybe you’re someone who’s got a back injury and can’t stand for a long time. Maybe your leg is in a cast, and it’s hard to stand on just one foot. Or maybe you just don’t like standing in the shower. Whatever your reasons are, a shower seat is what you need to stay comfortable while enjoying a bath. Constructed with water-resistant materials, showers seats allow people who have a hard time standing up to enjoy the benefits of a refreshing shower in the privacy of their own bathrooms.

Shower seats have different models that will work in just about any size of shower stall. The shower chair is the most basic design and constructed with lightweight resin material. This resembles a normal chair with or without arms, and some models have suction cups at the base of the feet to prevent slipping. Another model is the retractable seat which is a simple hinged seat attached to the wall of the shower stall. Permanent seats, which are usually made of ceramic tile and easy to clean, are installed in bathrooms whose occupants prefer to sit in the shower.
