Gadgets that Help Independent Living

July 16th, 2010

Living alone has its benefits. It can also be a lonely situation. Many seniors prefer to live on their own in spite of their advance age. It gives them a good feeling to be independent and self-sufficient. But living alone has its dangers. Seniors tend to be clumsy and are prone to accidents. They are also more forgetful exposing themselves to danger while doing chores in the home.

If it cannot be avoided, seniors may be allowed to live on their own with minimal supervision. Set them up with independent living aids. These are products that support the elderly, disabled and impaired to be able to live on their own. Examples are talking caller IDs for the phone, remote controlled telephones and talking calculators. These gadgets will be a big help in getting their chores done even if they live alone.
