aromatic potpourri

January 13th, 2010

Get the benefits of aromatherapy by making your own nice-smelling air fresheners. Stop using air fresheners that come in a can. Go for natural and environmentally friendly home-made fragrances that can even help you save money. Hang up bunches of nice-smelling flowers and herbs on a peg in your bathroom. Or try your hand at making aromatic potpourri.

Stir in 5 tablespoons of lavender flowers, 3 tablespoons each of carnations and scented rose petals, 1 ½ tablespoons each of chamomile flowers, heliotrope flowers, salt and oris root powder. Sprinkle everything with a few drops of rose oil then place in a tightly covered glass jar. Shake this daily and age for a month. After the aging time, place your potpourri in a decorative bowl and inhale the wonderful fragrances.
