Tips on Doing Senior Workouts

The elderly can get started with some basic exercises. But before doing so, they should be aware of general safety measures while doing senior workout exercises. They should check with their doctor before any vigorous activity especially those suffering from chronic diseases. Another tip is to start slow and build on it. They must stop if there is any kind of pain. And then consult their doctor.

This simple exercise will help strengthen your shoulder muscles:

As you gain strength, you can start using weights with the exercise.

  • Sit in a chair with your back straight.
  • Keep feet flat on the floor even with your shoulders.
  • Hold hands straight down at your sides with palms facing inward.
  • Raise both arms to side, shoulder height.
  • Hold the position for 1 second.
  • Slowly lower arms to the sides. Pause. Repeat 8 to 15 times.
  • Rest. Do another set of 8 to 15 repetitions.
