Body builders, boxers and exercise buffs normally use dumbbells during their workouts. Most of them prefer a hex dumbbell over any other dumbbells. The hex dumbbell is a regular iron dumbbell but is coated with rubber and shaped in the form of a hexagon with six sides.
These types of dumbbell will not roll on the floor due to their shape. Thus, they provide extra stability and helps prevent gym injury from accidental roll offs. The rubber covering also protects the gym floor from scratches and dents when the dumbbells are accidentally dropped.
