My father in law has type 2 diabetes but he never lets his condition hinder his enjoyment of life. Every day he incorporates bitter melon in the dishes he eats. He calls the vegetable his natural diabetes cure. According to him, bitter melon helps regulate blood sugar levels and keeps the body functions operating normally. It has already been proven by scientists to contain insulin.

Bitter melon is also rich in iron and has twice the beta carotene of broccoli, two times the calcium of spinach and twice the potassium of bananas. It moreover boasts of Vitamin C and B 1 to 3, phosphorus and good dietary fiber. Bitter melon has also been shown to help increase the production of beta cells by the pancreas and thereby improves the body’s ability to create and release insulin.
