bandage scissors

July 21st, 2009

I recently got in an accident that resulted in my hand being injured. The doctors had to bandage my hand. After a couple of days, the doctor cut the bandage off with bandage scissors. It was the first time I’ve seen one. The main difference from ordinary scissors is bandage scissors have blunt tip to avoid injuring the skin.

Bandage scissors have a longer bottom blade that can go under bandages or gauze for easy cutting. They are designed to lift bandages or gauze off the skin for trouble-free cutting. The blunt upper tip of the scissors is meant to avoid scraping or cutting into the skin. It is a precision tool that is vital in the medical field. I for one can attest to that.
