cold sore treatment
March 11th, 2010
Cold sores are groups of small blisters that appear on the lip and around the mouth. The skin around the blisters often becomes red, swollen and sore. The blisters may crack and leak fluid before scabbing over after a few days. They usually heal after several days to up to two weeks.
A cold sore treatment to reduce the pain and slightly improve healing time is to take oral antiviral medications. These are available by prescription and may be used when the first symptoms develop. If you have recurrent cold sores, you can also apply topical creams or ointments to minimize pain and itching.
