stop snoring

To the one who hears it, it can be annoying and stressful. To the one making it, it can be frustrating and embarrassing. These are just some of the problems associated to snoring. Like other sounds, snoring is caused by vibrations that cause particles in the air to form waves. In this case, the vibrations of the tissues of the nose and throat are caused by turbulent airflow during sleep.

Aside from social inconvenience, snoring can also be accompanied by medical concerns. Some snorers may have obstructive sleep apnea, a condition in which a person experiences one or more pauses in breathing or shallow breaths while sleeping. In fact, in a study, it is estimated that two-thirds of obnoxious snorers have developed apnea. Furthermore, half of apneic patients are prone to systemic high blood pressure. Today there are medical and surgical options available to people who want to stop snoring. The kind of treatment, however, depends on the gravity of obstruction.
