goat milk soap

March 3rd, 2010

Soap that is made from goat milk is the most natural soap that you will find. That is why the best goat milk soaps are made in small factories that are farm based. They are usually handmade and involve a process that retains its natural nutrients. Pure soap can be made from just glycerin and water. What commercial soaps do is add ingredients such as scents and coloring to make it more appealing. These additions can be harmful to the skin.

Some people make their own version of goat milk soap. The usual process is to combine lye with fat creating a chemical reaction that hardens the oil. Lye is a harsh ingredient and should be avoided. A better way is to melt glycerin over low temperature then pour into molds. Glycerin is the purest form of soap but others prefer to add scents and coloring.
