The Partial Wig

The use of the partial wig may be declining but it is still holding on. A toupee is referred to as a partial wig because it is small in size and is used to cover only partial baldness. They are usually used by the male although women use a similar piece to lengthen existing hair. In the movie industry, William Shatner and Sean Connery have been known to be toupee wearers. These famous actors never attempted to make a secret of the fact that they wore a hairpiece.

Wearing a toupee can involve hard work. First, a waterproof sealant is applied on the clean scalp. A toupee tape is applied under and at the base of the toupee. Peel the backing off the strips so that the tape will attach to the scalp. The toupee is then put carefully in place, applying pressure where the adhesive tape is located. As a final touch, a dash of spray-on conditioner is applied.
