The type and amount of cholesterol we have can have significant effects on our bodies. So it is a good idea to understand what healthy cholesterol is and how it affects our health. Such understanding will help us live a healthier life and reduce our personal risks for heart attacks and strokes.
Extra cholesterol in the blood is stored in the arteries and will cause them to narrow. If large deposits of cholesterol build up, blood flow can be severely compromised. If this happens inside an artery that supplies blood to the heart, you can suffer a heart attack. If this occurs inside an artery that supplies blood to the brain, you may suffer a stroke instead.
