nutrition information

June 24th, 2009

I became more vigilant in educating my daughters about health and nutrition when I learned the alarming hike of obesity cases among children and teens. Since most children are not yet conscious about their body and physical image, it is a natural tendency for children to overeat. Over indulgence to ice cream, chips, sodas, and fast food meals likely happen. With both our family sides have the tendency to get big, my spouse and I always remind our children to eat in moderation.

Aside from avoiding fatty food and sticking to vegetables and fruits, I also encourage my children to read nutrition information in food labels and packaging. I told them to stay away from foods rich in monosodium glutamate, cholesterol, as well to snacks that contains too much sugar and salt. It is to start on them really young since long term effects of obesity can be harmful to them both physically and emotionally.
