The costs associated with the use of water filters will actually depend on:
- the type and quality of home water filter you choose
- the amount of water that is filtered
- the rate at which your filter must be replaced
It is not true that your water consumption and water bill will increase when you start using a home water filter. However, prices of water filters vary greatly. Activated carbon filters sell from a few dollars to several hundred dollars depending on the size. Faucet-mounted filters can range in prices of $20 to $60 while pitcher filters are usually the most affordable and retail for under $25.
